Week 8 Progress
I am getting close to putting all the pieces together. I have finally gotten two different bomber jackets (one from a thrift store and one from Target). I have got the manakin to put the jackets on for measurement purposes, got an initial cut out for the inside of the jacket cut and placed on the manakin, and have begun to work on sewing on the buttons. Pictures are below:
Additionally, I tried to get all 12 motors working, but I didn’t realize that the Arduino Uno board couldn’t support that many motors and I ended up making my Arduino Uno board smoke because of it being overworked. I luckily had the motors working for a little before it broke so I know that the wiring is in fact correct (the power and ground was added to the final breadboard after these pictures were taken. But now I have got 3 different Lilypad Arduino boards and will continue to work with getting 4 motors working per board. I am still mapping out the protoboards and how each of the motors will be aligned within the jacket. The wiring before the protoboards is shown below:
90% of my project is supposed to be done for next week and I feel like I can reach that point. I have begun working on getting each of the separate Lilypad Arduino boards working and have so far almost finished one entire set up with protoboards. For the 90% of my project, I need to finish all of the protoboards with each of the Lilypad Arduinos and get them all working. The hope is to have all of the buttons sewed on to the jacket and to the inner lining so that the motors can then be attached to the inner lining as well. I feel like this will be achievable but primarily I want to get the hardware done and ready to be sewed into the jacket. The last 10% of the project will be working on deciding which objects to put on each of the vibrating motors to elevate the experience even more. It’s really getting down to the wire now!
