Motion Infographic

Project 2

Creative Brief

For project 2, the motion infographic, I want to develop an infographic that displays the total number of Instagram posts on average for a minute, day, month, and year. Continuing off of that, I want to display an infographic that shows the most used emoji’s for each these posts. I want to create a fun and uplifting infographic that allows for a lot of playful colors and motions to be incorporated in showing the emojis. I have always found it fascinating just how many posts go on Instagram over the course of the day just within the group of people I follow currently, and have wondered just how many posts must be going out at the same time as one that shows up on my feed. I already can assume that the numbers will surprise me and I want to be able to portray the extreme level of posts in an impactful way to the viewer.

In terms of the design that I will be using for this project will be a sequence of icons and emojis primarily along with a few graphs. I want to start the infographic with a single phone and a single post that shows up on the phone, in a very abstract nature. I want to then expand out this phone into a system of lines and networks to show that there is more than just one single phone that could have a notification of a post appearing. This will then take one of the lines and start to display a line graph of the progression of how many posts are posted a minute, a day, a week, a month, and a year. I want to then take this line and use it to help create the first of the most common emojis that are used in posts every minute, then progressively make it to every day, week, month, and year emoji. With each addition of a new emoji and really any display I use in my project I want it to be of the same fun color scheme that emojis and Instagram uses to keep the light air about the topic. To finish off the video, I want to leave the listener with some sort of question about what their next post might be with a little emoji to be the sort of “sign-off” on the video.

Write-up for Spoken Dialog

*ping* – Instagram notification pops up on phone on screen
*Zoom out to show the multiple system of lines and networks of phones also having an Instagram post show-up at that moment*
“You are one of 874 other people that also get that same notification of an Instagram post being posted every second. That means that in a minute, there are 52,440 people that upload a post worldwide. Since the start of Instagram, there have been more than 50 billion photos uploaded to their site to share with the world and 50% of these posts use emojis. The most popular of these emojis being the person shrugging emoji, followed by the red heart emoji. So the next time you want to post an Instagram image, just think about the 874 other people posting at the same time. I don’t know, just a thought.”
*include the shrugging emoji from before to sign off, connecting it back to the most used emoji*
