Project 1

Furniture Project

Goal was to develop an innovative way to make and display furniture in a space of our choosing. I chose a small office space. For this project I made a comfortable lounge sofa that one could lay on or at least 3 people could comfortably sit on. I then made a desk that had space for you to put your computer on the side of the desk to stand and do work or sit on the chair and do work. Furthermore I developed a chair that can open up and be a coffee table to allow for less space to be taken up with an object with multiple uses.

Project 2

Wearable Technology

Goal of this project was to develop an innovative wearable technology. I had lost my hearing last semester and wanted to develop a way to communicate with someone on the phone without needing to FaceTime. I then developed a render of a device that allows for you to feel the vibration of someone’s voice at they talked and also transcribed the conversation for you displayed on the watch face. The intended market for this product was hard of hearing people, members of the Deaf community that are oral, or really anyone that would like an easier way to communicate.

Project 3

Connector Design

The Goal of our final product was to design connectors that would connect ordinary objects. For this project I chose to develop a connector that connected playing cards to make fun shapes with. I wanted to make a connector that was small and easy to use. I first printed a connector that looked kind of like a curved “H” and it had the issue of not having grooves between the sides that were intended to hold the card. Without the use of the grooves, the plastic being printed, melted together and wouldn’t allow the cards in. I then worked with the grooved idea and developed two different types of connectors - one that was straight and one that had a 45 degree angle between the cards.
